Epac shock Silver: Malawi TNM Super League

Having posted a string of poor results in their recent league encounters, Epac FC, alias Njenjete finally found the winning formula as they shocked central giants Silver Strikers with a 1-0 victory in a TNM Super League match played on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

Fresh from a 4-0 routing of Dedza Young Soccer away in Dedza last week, the Bankers came onto the pitch confident of another field day but they met fierce resistance from Epac, now under caretaker coach Abbas Makawa, who is taking charge of the side following the suspension of head coach Leo Mpulula.

After resisting an early challenge from the Stain Chirwa boys, Njenjete bite the Central Bankers where it pains most on 34 minutes when Mude Jeffrey beat goalkeeper Blessings Kamiza from a free-kick.

Half-time whistle caught the Bankers trailing 1-0 and despite Chirwa making some changes to his starting line-up the result stood up to the final whistle.

The Silver mentor conceded defeat after the whistle, saying Epac were the better team.

“We were below par. Epac controlled the proceedings from the start to finish. We tried to make changes but it did not work,” said Chirwa.

Makawa praised his charges for playing according to game plan.

“It was not an easy victory for us. We were under pressure, having failed to get a win in almost five games. But I must praise the boys for playing according to instructions,” said Makawa.
