Be Forward Wanderers have confirmed the signing of veteran battle-hardened forward Esau Kanyenda, the club’s team manager Steve Madeira confirmed to Nyasa Times.
The 35-year-old striker joined Wanderers training at Country Club Limbe on Tuesday afternoon and finalised personal terms on a switch to Lali Lubani Road.
“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Wanderers. I am looking forward to playing in the domestic games once again,” Kanyenda who has been in foreign land for professional football , a tour of duty that took him to Russia.
Kanyenda played for Russian clubs such as Rostov and Lovomotic Moscow. Before moving to Russsia in 2003, Kanyenda had a successful career with Jomo Cosmos.
He also had trials with French First Division side, Olympique Marseille in 2002 when he was named Malawi’s Footballer of the Year .
Kanyenda said Wanderers is emerging as professional club and continues to be a powerful football house locally.
“I am ready for this new and exciting challenge.”
Commenting on the signing, Madeira said: “Esau needs no introduction. He is one of the best strikers in Malawi and a player who always gives 100 per cent. ”
Kanyenda has called it time on his career at Polokwane City in South Africa.
