Ex-minister Mangulama loses battle to diabetes: Military honours expected at burial in Zomba 

Former Cabinet minister in the Bakili Muluzi administration, Leonard Mangulama died on Monday at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre and family has announced that his burial will take place  on Wednesday July 4 at his home  Kapitaapa Village, Senior Chief Mlumbe in Zomba.

Mangulama: Dies

His first born daughter Angela Mangulama Kacherega confirmed said the veteran politician died after succumbed to diabetes.

He was born on January 17 1959.

At the time of his death, Mangulama was working as senior lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Catholic University.

The University said in a statement  seen by Nyasa Times that that the body of Mangulama will be taken to his house  in Soche  near Blantyre Teachers College,  at 10am this Tuesday where a church service will be conducted, before leaving  for his home village at noon.

Mangulama becomes the fifth former senior Cabinet minister who served under Muluzi administration to die within two years after Sam Mpasu, Harry Thomson, Peter Chupa and Patrick Mbewe.

All these ministers received military honours on their funeral and it is expected that President Peter Mutharika will direct the same for Mangulama who served several Cabinet portfolios under Muluzi.

Mangulama joined front line politics in 1999 when he won as Mmeber of Parliament for Zomba Chingale.
