FAM announce venues for Carlsberg Cup: Wanderers to play Fish Eagles in Balaka

Be Forward Wanderers  will look to defend the Carlsberg Cup  title they won last year against Silver Strikers  with minnows Fish Eagles.

Mighty Wanderers players: Will they hold on to the Carlsberg Cup to Lali Lubani Road?

The Nomads will begin the campaign with a home match against the Mzuzu based side on 19  July  2017 at Balaka Stadium.

The winner in that tie will progress through into the next round and face the winners between Mafco FC and Chitedze Strikers, who will play on the same 19 July at Chitowe Stadium.

Wanderers team manager Steven Madeira said  they are eager to face Fish Eagles.

Madeira said their aim is to defend their title.

“We will guard this cup jealously since it is already in our cabinet at Lali-Lubani Road. We are not underrating Fish Eagles becaue cup games are always difficult,” he said as quoted on the club;s website.

Last season, Wanderers beat Silver Strikers in penalties to be crowned champions at Kamuzu Stadium.

In other fixtures, Nyasa Big Bullets will take on Civil Sporting Club next week on Wednesday at MDC  Stadium, while Kamuzu Barracks have an easy assignment against Mtsiliza at Civo Stadium.
