FAM charges Bullets and fan ‘Billy 1’

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has charged Nyasa Big Bullets and one of its top fan Beleti Severe popularly known as ‘Billy 1’ on counts of failing to control supporters and improper conduct respectively.

FAM CEO Gunda: Bullets has a case to answer

Billy 1 allegedly beat up Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Sports Sam Madula as he was trying to force himself into the VVIP Section at the Bingu National Stadium during a Luso TV Bus Ipite Bonanza second leg between Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers on 2nd January 2017.

The supporter was arrested by Police and released on bail days later.

He went on to apologize to Madula and the football fraternity for his unsporting behaviour through an interview with a local radio station.

According to information sourced from Malawi FA website, Billy 1’s actions were against the rules and regulations of the Luso TV and FAM.

“As outlined in Article 20.2 of the Lusi TV  Bonanza Rules and Regulations and Section 3 Article 57 of the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) disciplinary code, FAM has charged Severe with improper conduct after he beat the Principal Secretary of Sports Mr. Sam Madula as well as insulted FAM officials using offensive gestures and language,” reads part of the statement.

The association further charged Bullets for failure to control supporters of the team as well as failing to take precaution measures to control Severe from displaying unsporting behaviour.

Severe and Bullets have since been given 48 hours-until Friday 24th February 2017 to respond to the charges.
