FAM, Sulom to sort out fixture congestion
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) and Super League of Malawi officials have been engaging from Thursday in a bid to strategise how to sort out the fixture congention as some top-flight league clubs complained of the pile up of games following the draw of Fisd Challenge Cup round of 16.
Some Super League clubs have at least two games between October 21-28 when they are expected to fulfil a Fisd Cup fixture between October 25 and 26.
“We are discussing with Sulom to change some fixtures,” FAM commercial manager Limbani Matola said.
There have been growing calls for the fixture list to be looked at as Mighty Be Foward Wanderers complained it lost to Moyale Barracks in Fisd Cup match due to fatigue by its players as it had to endure a three-match fixture in four days.
Included in that run was a lost to Silver Strikers, which was on Saturday, a victory y to Blue Eagles on Sunday all games in Lilongwe and then knocked out of Fisd Cup by Moyale on Tuesday in Mzuzu.
The teams say the amount of fixtures is unfair on players- and something needs to be done about it.

Am not a nyerere supporter but let us be frank, there was no fair play in the scheduling of these games. Some players end up incurring life threatening injuries with this type of arrangement. I know ours is not a professional league but please use common sense when arranging these fixtures as it seems you administrators had a mission to accomplish before – that is making sure Nyerere loses then you start talking about it after the damage has already been done.
