First Lady brings festive cheers to patients in Mangochi
The First Lady Madam Gertrude Mutharika says joy, love and giving is the spirit of Christmas and must be preserved and sustained at all times throughout the year to make Malawi a better place for everyone.
Madame Mutharika said this on Christmas Day at Monkey-bay in Mangochi District after cheering patients at Monkey-bay Community Hospital.
The First Lady reiterated the importance of love, joy and giving as the pillars of the festive season.
She said it should be in that same spirit of love that Christians who believe Jesus Christ must also show love and share with others the little that they have, always, not just on Christmas day.
“These people could not manage to be home to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with their families; they are here in hospital either as patients or guardians. We therefore, thought of lifting up their spirit on this important day, share a little something and give them some love because that is the essence of Christmas,” said the First Lady.
During the visit the First Lady – among other hospital sections- visited maternity, paediatric, female and male wards where she donated various gifts ranging from baby basins, water buckets, blankets, sugar and various food stuffs.
