FISD dress up semi-finalists

FISD Limited Company Friday lived up to their promise to drees up four semi-finalists of the 2017 challenge cup scheduled to be played Saturday and Sunday at Civo stadium in Lilongwe.

Fisd Company Limited has given kits to semifinalists Nyasa Big Bullets, Moyale Barracks, Kamuzu Barracks and Masters Security

FISD had indicated that they will provide uniform for teams that would reach the semifinals and Kamuzu Barracks, Master Security, Nyasa Big Bullets and Moyale Barracks made it in the last four of this year’s competition.

Presenting the uniforms in Lilongwe at Bridge View Hotel, Executive Director of FISD Limited, Moses Chirambo said his company has lived to its promise to dress up the 2017 semi-finalists.

He said the presentation of the uniforms forms part of the activities the company had promised during the launch of the competition in Dwangwa.

“The company introduced the challenge cup in order to help in the development of football from the grass root levels. We are happy to say that the cup has helped to uncover hidden talent out there which will be used in the near future,” Chirambo explained.

He said it was quite interesting to see small teams putting up a gallant fight against big teams of the land and this shows that the cup has brought the much needed competition among teams.

The Executive Director said his company was impressed with the way this year’s competition has been organized and it is expected to finish on a high note.

First Vice President of Football Association of Malawi (FAM), James Mwenda promised to make sure that the sponsorship for the cup is safeguarded.

He said when the cup was launched last year ‘we were not sure of its sustainability but now we are convinced that you are partners in development of football particularly from the grassroots level.’

“We are pleased to hear that losing semi-finalists will pocket K1 million as token which was not there last year. We are very delighted on this development as an association,” Mwenda said.

He thanked FISD for giving back almost 60 per cent of the sponsorship money to the clubs and this really shows a total commitment in their endeavor.

Commercial Director of FAM, Limbani Matola said K12 million is now at stake this year and all the four teams have equal chances of grabbing it.

He pointed out that the prize money of the cup increased from K45 million last year to K50.2 million this year.

On Saturday Kamuzu Barracks will face Masters Security while on Sunday Nyasa Big Bullets will battle it out with Moyale Barracks at Civo Stadium.

The inaugural winner of the FISD Challenge Cup is Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.
