Flames to play Taifa Stars, Simba FC

Malawi national football team, popularly known as the Flames,  will play two more friendly games against Tanzania national team and Simba FC on May 26 and 28, 2012 respectively as part of their 2014 World Cup and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general-secretary Suzyo Nyirenda said the games will be played in Tanzania.

Simba FC is participating in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions league.

The Flames are faced with three World Cup and African Cup games against Kenya on June 2, Nigeria on June 7 and Chad on June 17 this year.

“The Flames will be going to Kenya through Tanzania where two testing matches will take place before meeting Kenya on June 2.

“We are expecting professional players to join the team either on May 22 or 23 as their South African league is almost over,” said Nyirenda.

Nyirenda further said they are taking to Tanzania only players who will be used in Kenya.

Meanwhile, the Flames have arrived back home from China where they had a friendly against the country’ under 22. They were held 2-2.
