Only female executive member in the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) male dominated management team, Flora Mwandira, has made it public that she will contest in the forthcoming FAM elections, saying she still has some positives to contribute towards the betterment of football in the country.
FAM will hold the polls on December 12, 2015 in the lakeshore district of Salima and an electoral calendar has been made public by the FAM’s Electoral Committee .
However, the candidates have a task to earn nominations from the affiliates then pass eligibility test. The candidates have to served football for five consecutive years leading to the elections in an affiliate position, attributes Mwandira has.
The window for making nominations closes on November 13, after which scrutiny of the eligibility of the aspirants wil be done, and the calendar show that between November 15 and 21 the FAM’s elections Appeals Committee will make decisions on any appeals.
During the previous elections it was the Malawi National Council of Sports which was acting as FAM Returning Officers but following some amendments in the Association’s constitution, an electoral body headed by Dingiswayo Madise was put in place.
At the moment it is the hot seat of the present that has generated much debate with over five candidates vying for the hot seat, including the incumbent, Walter Nyamlandu.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
