Speaking to Nyasa Times after handing over the set of uniforms to the finalists,  Head of Marketing for FMB Silvia Mataka said the bank is happy to be associated with development of football in the country.

“We are delighted with the administration of the league and it’s always  easy for us to defend the sponsorship proposal. Let me commend the outgoing Chairman of the National Youth Football Committee (Mabvuto Misi) and his entire executive for showing financial prudence in their daily operations of the league and FMB will continue bankrolling the league if we will have a similar incoming comitee.”

“As sponsors, we are also pleased that the league has contributed players to the national Under 20 team which is in camp for the forthcoming Cosafa tournament in South Africa. Already the league contributed a number of players to the Malawi Under 17 team which also participated in an international tournament early this year. This is a clear indicator that indeed, FMB is contributing greatly to the development of grassroot football in the country,” said Mataka.

In his remarks, out going Chairman for the National Youth Football Committee Mabvuto Mithi commended FMB for the continued support they continue to render to the national youth football.

“We are happy with our partnership. It’s a partnership that has produced great results and I don’t have to mention because most of them have been listed by the FMB Head of Marketing. However, let me assure FMB that though my tenure of office will expire this coming Friday 25 November, 2016, I will be leaving my office a happy man for what FMB has done and continues to do.

“I will make sure that the incoming Committee adheres to FMB’s objectives and expectations that is providing audited reports for the money spent in the league.  My advice to the incoming Chairman is simple, do not dissapoint FMB as they are here to stay,” said Mithi.

The four teams that are set to compete in the national finals are Ntopwa super Boys from the Southern region, Silver Strikers youth from the Central region while the Northern region by virtue of being host has contributed 2 teams namely Fish Eagles and Malema F.C from Karonga.

Ntopwa super Boys were drawn with Fish Eagles while Silver Strikers youth were drawn with Malema F.C. The games will be played on Friday and Saturday.
