Fuel attendant nabbed for illegal possession of petrol

Police in Mponela-Dowa have arrested a 28-year old female fuel attendant, Rose Kankhumbwa on suspicion that she was keeping petrol in her house without possessing a license.

The suspect was working as a supervisor at Super Sink filling station situated in Mponela.

According to police, on Sunday evening, they received a tip-off from members of the general public that the suspect was selling the scarce product to vendors from her house.

Following the tip, CID personnel led by Sam Qaba stormed her house at around 23:00 hours and discovered four full jerry cans of petrol, 20 litters each.

Police Public Relations for Dowa, Kondwani Kandiado,  has since bemoaned the behaviour of keeping fuel in houses which he says it leads to various accidents.

The suspect hails from Kapiza village in the area of T/A Msakambewa in Dowa.

She will appear before court soon to answer charges of storing petroleum products without a license.
