Gaba, Ng’ambi nominated for awards in South Africa

Malawian star players Gabadinho Mhango of Bloemfontein Celtic and his Platinum Stars’ compatriot Robert Ng’ambi have been nominated for end of season awards in South Africa.

Mhango, who has scored eight goals, just two goals shy of top goal scorer, has been nominated for the position for PSL Young Player of the Season while Ng’ambi is nominated for  two awards MTN Player of the Season and Last Man Standing.

Ng’ambi, who was nominated for the most prestigious award Footballer of Season last season, has found solace in the nominations after enduring an injury-prone season at Platinum Stars.

But Kickoff has favoured Ng’ambi to win both awards over his rivals Lennox Bacela and Vuyo Mere for to win Last man Stand and Lennox Bacela (Orlando Pirates), Mogakolodi Ngele (Platinum Stars) for Player of the for MTN.

Gabadinho, who faces competition from Abubakar Mobara and Keegan Dolly stands a chance to win R50,000 (about K2 million).

The awards will be announced on May 18.
