Golden boot race heats up:Treble leads with 7 goals in Malawi TNM Super League
The 2017-2018 TNM Super League Golden Boot race has reached a boiling point with three players tied in leading the top scorers chat.
The trio of Mphatso Philemon (Blue Eagles), Matthews Sibale (Silver Strikers) and Khuda Muyaba (Moyale Barracks) have at this juncture banged in seven goals each.
Six players including the duo of Joseph Dudu Kachule and Raphael Phiri of Civil Sporting Club are only a goal behind the leaders with six goals.
The others four are Vincent Nyaungulu (Master Security Services), Misheck Botomani (Premier Bet Wizard), Luke Chima (Azam Tigers), and Jidde Mbandambanda (Blantyre United).
But Silver’s Sibale stand a big chance to solemnly take the lead as first round winds up only if he can score in his side’s last game of
the season against Mighty Be Forward Wanderers on 3rd September 2017.
Same applies to Chima that’s if he can find the back of the net when Tigers date Nyasa Big Bullets on the last day of the first round
season.
So far, a total of 266 goals have been scored in 117 matches that have been played.
Out of the total games played, 87 were straight wins while 30 ended in a draw.
Civil Sporting Club are the highest scorers having being on target 25 times.
Leaders Silver Strikers have scored 21 while Blantyre giants Wanderers and Bullets have scored 19 and 13 goals respectively.
Silver, Wanderers and Bullets have conceded six goals each.
The bottom three; Blantyre United, Dwangwa United and Chitipa United seem to have a big leakage in their defences having conceded the highest number of goals-27.
Wanderers have won more games than any other team.
They have managed 10 straight wins and three draws while Silver who are still unbeaten have won nine times drawing five.
Action will continue this weekend with a single game lined up involving Wanderers who travel to the Northern Region to face Mzuni
FC.
The final final games for the first round are on 3rd September 2017 when Wanderers face Silver in what can probably be deemed as a game of the season while Bullets will take on Azam Tigers.
