Grand father in for sex assault on step daughter, 12

A 65 year-old man is under police custody in Dedza district for sexually assaulting his twelve year old step grand-daughter.

Dedza police public relations officer sergeant Edward Kabango said the offense which the suspect Ntasa Kapatamoyo has committed contravenes section 138 of the penal code.

According to Kabango, Kapatamoyo on April 7 gave the standard three girl a K200 note to buy notebooks, but in the afternoon he started demanding sex.

Kabango says despite the girl’s refusal to sexual advances Kapatamoyo succeeded in having unlawful sexual intercourse with the girl later in the afternoon.

“He told the girl that she should not reveal about the issue saying he will buy her a pair of shoes of which he bought,” he said.

Kabango says the grandmother who was away when all this was happening was surprised to see her granddaughter, who is an orphan, with a new pair of shoes.

“After asking where she got the shoes, the girl revealed what his step grandfather did to her. This is when they then took the girl to hospital where medical results indicated that she was raped and eventually led to the arrest of Kapatamoyo”.

Kapatamoyo is expected to appear before court soon to answer the charges of defilement.

The offence attracts a maximum sentence of 14 years in jail. He hails from Madaudau village T/A Kaphuka.
