Guba wins gold medal again in Taekwondo

Malawian martial artist serving in the British Military, Yamikani Guba, has again won gold when he competed  Taekwondo 1st Mayor Cup International Open Poomsae Championships,held in Harrogate @ Rossett Sports Centre on May 29.

Guba represented the UK Armed Forces Taekwondo Team and the British Army Team in the  competition and claimed Gold medal  in the Under 40years Poomase/Pattern  Category.

“It was a very good  experience to win in the Under 40years Category,” Guba told Nyasa Times.

Guba, who holds a fourth Dan Black Belt in taekwondo from the World Taekwondo Federation,   started practising martial arts at Blantyre Youth Centre before joining the British Army in 2007.

“Many thanks should go to family and friends who always supporting me in my sport,” he said, adding “Great thanks to the Chain of Command of 14 Regiment Royal Artillery for big support  given to me.”
