Gwengwe relocates to seek parliamentary seat in Lilongwe Msozi North

Former Minister of Industry and Trade, Sostsen Gwengwe who flopped in the presidential bid when he was picked as running mate of  Joyce Banda in 2014 elections is repositioning himself on return to parliament by relocating to Lilongwe Msozi North Constituency which is expected to have a by-election.

Gwengwe: Wants a parliamentray seat

Lilongwe Msozi North Constituency fell vacant following the death of Highton Jiya on January 2.

Gwengwe who dumped the erastwhile ruling Peoples Party (PP) and returned to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) was legislature representing Dedza central constituency between 2009 and 2014.

He is currently mobilising support in Lilongwe Msonzi so that he can run for the seat.

Gwengwem however, said he has been approached by the constituents to consider running.

“I have ti think about their request,” said Gwengwe.

Gwengwe said its not certain that he will contest but indicated that “when a decision is made to Tke it, you will be informed.

MCP officials say Gwengwe will have to go through primary elections is he is to get the mandate to be the candidate.
