Headmaster foils MSCE results at St George Academy
Students who sat for this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education Examinations (MSCE) at St. George Academy in Chikuli near Chileka International Airport are bitter with the school’s management because their results are not available because the headmaster did not pay exam fees at Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb).
The headmaster, Boniface Psatirani, has since fled into hiding and police are looking for him.
The headmaster fled from the campus soon after the MSCE results were released by Maneb two weeks ago.
Some parents whose children were at the school disclosed to Nyasa Times that Maneb has not released results for the students because the school did not pay all the exam fees.
“We as parents are not happy with this development. We ask the management to sort this out as quickly as possible. We want to know the fate of our children,” said one parent who was also supported by another.
The school was established by the late Justice George Chimasula and his wife. Theirchildren are now managing it.
Some of the students who are affected by this development have told the management to either give back their money or show them the results. But the management cannot show the results as Maneb has withheld them.
A student who is affected said he paid all the exams fees and was shocked that the headmaster, who looked innocent, could betray the school like that.
“I ask the police to hunt for this stupid headmaster and arrest him. Management should employ people with credibility. But sometimes management wants cheap labour and these are some of the consequences,” the student said.
Mrs. Chimasula could not be reached for comment.
