Headteacher convicted over fake MSCE certificate

The Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Thomas Mbale on suspicion that he used a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) certificate of his relative, Leonard Mbale to get employed in the Ministry of Education.

According to ACB Senior Public Relations Officer, Egrita Ndala,   Mbale was arrested  on Friday after the investigations proved that the suspect secured employment as a teacher in the Ministry using his brother’s certificate.

Ndala said Mbale was taken to appear before the Second Grade Magistrate’s Court sitting at Rumphi.

The ACB publicist said the accused person pleaded “guilty” to two counts of impersonating contrary to section 389 and impersonation of a person named in a certificate contrary to section 391 as stipulated in section 358 of the Penal code.

Ndala further said the suspect was later convicted on his own plea of guilt.

According to ACB’s publicist, the suspect was expected to get his sentence.
