Heston Munthali joins Bullets

Former Flames international forward Heston Munthali has found new lease of life at Big Bullets where he has been training since his offloading at Escom United.

Munthali was instrumental in last season’s campaign when his potency at goal almost helped the power men to clinch the TNM title. However, they missed it by a whisker and finished as runners up to champions Silver Strikers.

As part of restructuring campaign the club surprisingly sent almost the entire squad packing and the offloaded players have been knocking at doors of various Super League clubs to be signed for the new season that kicked off last weekend.

And in a bid not to be caught napping, Munthali has been seen attending training sessions with the people’s team at College of Medicine Sports Complex.

Munthali: Bullest player

“Its, true we have welcomed several new players who have shown interest to join us and Heston is one of them. He is vital striker and is part of our plans because of his experience,” confirmed Bullets vice general secretary Higa Mkandawire.

Mkandawire further said the team is impressed with his inspirational approach to younger players.

On his part, Munthali told Nyasa Times that he is not yet done with football and would probably prove it at Bullets.

He said putting on the red and white jersey has been his childhood dream and now that the dream has come to pass, he is out to prove critics wrong especially those who felt his time in the field of play was over.

“Soccer is what keeps me going and in such instances i always perform to my level best knowing for sure if i don’t score goals then am useless, so that is what i will do at BB, score goals and help the team to win trophies,” said a visibly confident Munthali.

Munthali became a household name in early 2000 whilst playing for defunct MDC United and led the team to sweeping almost all trophies on the land.

His joining of the people’s team coincides with the team’s recent deal it has clinched with Carlsberg Malawi to the tune of K15 million in year-long sponsorship.
