Hip-hop star Young Kay rebrands as Hyphen, drops single ‘A Rozi’

Malawi’s multi-award hip hop legend Young Kay has—as part of rebranding his name to Hyphen—announced the release of hit single ‘A Rozi’ this Monday.

In an interview with Nyasa Times, Hyphen said he is set for the drop of the single this Monday.

“I have several songs that I have been working on as part of rebranding myself to Hyphen. I will be releasing them at intervals until I am set for the album,” he said.

Hyphen, who is the first artist from Malawi to perform at Big Brother Africa in 2010, has two albums to his credit, namely; First Impression [2008] and Exhale [2007].

The Anakabango start has never released an album since 2008. However, he has been collaborating with several artists.

He is known for his vibrant sound and ability to mix Chichewa and English lyrics eloquently in his rhymes. This has earned him recognition as one of Malawi’s best lyricists. He has been voted as Malawi’s best rapper twice.
