A social media activist Yamikani Nicholas Kachingwe commonly known as Prince Yamie on Facebook, who was a supporter of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has said he has joined Malawi Congress Party (MCP) which is led by State President Lazarus Chakwera.
Prince Yammie, who runs Current Affairs outlet, a son to veteran politician an d UTM member, former Member of Parliament for Blantyre West Nicholas Kachingwe, confirmed to Nyasa Times that he is now MCP after being “ inspired by the adorable leadership prowess demonstrated in President Lazarus Chakwera and vice president Saulos Chilima.”
He expressed his full commitment to work tirelessly in influencing his fellow young populace to invest “the harvestable trust” in Chakwera and the Tonse Alliance-led administration.
Transition of government in Malawi evokes defections from the losing party and this is a common phenomena.
