Joy as journalist Chapalapata marries banker

College of Medicine sports complex hall was jam parked with well wishers including Minister of Economic Development Atupele Muluzi when senior journalist Mc Donald Chapalapata was celebrating his marriage to banker Lilian Mapundula.

Officiating of the marriage was held at St Pauls Cathedral of the Anglican Church in Blantyre.

Visibly excited Chapalapata did not hesitate to say “I do” during marriage vows when he officially took Lilian, daughter of an Anglican Church Priest, as his duly wedded wife with parents from both sides wearing big smiles.

“It was an unforgettable moment,” said Chapalapata just before the reception at College of Medicine.

And his newlywed wife said: “We are very much in love and look forward to the future together.”

Scribes from both print and electronic media led by Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter chairperson Anthony Kasunda, also gave the couple a good send-off.

“It is exciting when you see journalists getting married like this, it sends a message out there that we are responsible people, more than the perception of others,” said Kasunda.

The media fraternity and many Malawians wished the Chapalapata family a happy marriage with comments pouring on social networking site Facebook.
