The  K45 million FISD Challenge Cup has been launched with sponsors promising more from their company.

Speaking during the launch of the competition at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo, Managing Director for FISD Frank Mwenechanya said the launch of the cup marked the beginning of exciting things from the company towards football in the country.

“We want to be part of football development in the country. We believe in giving back to the community we ply our trade. Through the cup, we would like  to introduce  a number of exciting things which football fans can’t afford to miss.

“We believe that Malawi has great potential in football and all what is needed is to uplift it from the grassroot level hence the introduction of this cup.

“We were happy with what we achieved last year when we partnered Wizards Football Club and hope this is an improvement from what started last year,” said Mwenechanya flanked by his three other business partners.

In his remarks, Minister of Labour, Sports, Youth and Manpower development Henry Mussa offered government support to FISD for what they have done.

“Let me assure management of FISD of government’s commitment to support them. Let me invite you to a roundtable discussion where we can see how best government can support your  company.  It is government’s responsibility to support responsible companies like FISD,” said Mussa.

During the launch, Chikwawa based Dululu Football Club saw off Mwanza Madrid to go through to the next level of the competition which is still at region.
