The 22-year athlete emerged top in a hotly contested event, which attracted top body builders from Malawi and one athlete from Zimbabwe.

He was presented with the K1 million top prize by the country’s Vice President Saulos Chilima, who was guest of honour during the event.

“I feel happy to win this competition. It was a very tough contest because all the contestants put up their best. My only secret was dedication, hard work and taking the right diet,” said Kajamu, who is studying business administration in Kenya.

Chairman of Ulaya Clasics Charles Ulaya congratulated the youthful athlete for winning the inaugural event.

“I’m impressed with this young man. He had to raise money for an air ticket and fly all the way from Kenya. That shows he is very passionate about the spot,” said Ulaya, who expressed satisfaction with the way the competition went.

Ulaya hailed Chilima for accepting to grace the event as guest of honour. He also paid tribute to companies and organisations that partnered with him in hosting the event including Ministry of Health, Masm, National Bank of Malawi, KK Security, Ernest & Young and others.

Chilima said he accepted the invitation because he realises the importance of physical exercises to every human being.

“Sports or any time of work out clears the mind and improves physical fitness. Physically fit people can live life to the fullest and a person who is physically fit can live life to the fullest and take part in development activities,” said Chilima.

On a lighter note, the Vice President said he would have loved to be invited as a contestant and not as guest of honour.

During the event, Ulaya honoured some individuals, who have been engaging in physical exercises including Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya and former Reserve Bank Governor Francis Perekamoyo.

It’s not about having more muscle baba. It’s also about, proportions, body fat percentage, aesthetics and the ability to pose. Among others…

If you are referring to number 30, I would have you examine his “muscles” better. His body fat percentage is on the higher side. Most of his “muscles” are actually FAT. This can also be noted from the size of his gut which is not displaying the aesthetically pleasing “6 pack”
