Kamleo challenges DPP against intimidation, hatred and tribalism

Rumphi East Member of Parliament (MP) Kamlepo Kalua has warned the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) against suffocating democracy and intimidating political competitors.

Kamlepo: I’m not intimidated

Kalua made reamrks in Parliament when opposition legislatures registered their concerns with the rising cases of violence perpetrated by DPP cadres but the Police are not helping the opposition.

The outspoken Rumphi East MP accused DPP members of  abusing democracy which he was one of the front line troops in championing,

“Some of these people in this House did not fight for multiparty democracy,” noted Kalua.

“We fought for democracy because we were trying to get away from politics of intimidation, hatred, regionalism and tribalism,” he said.

“We wanted to get away from it,” he added.

Kalua warned that he would not be intimidated by DPP.

“Some of us are not going to take it lightly if they want a fight; we are ready to fight them back,” he said.

  1. Many people who comment negatively about Kamlepo and call him mad know nothing about the history of this country and if you know nothing its better to remain silent. Olo mutatani you will never find the names of Peter Muntharika, George Chaponda or Goodall among pioneers of democracy in this country. Nde mufuna kusokoneza dziko. Komanso osamayankhula motumbwa ngati inuyo ndinu Mulungu kuti your party will rule forever just because the Lomwes are in majority. In Rwanda the Tutsis are a minority but Kagame is ruling. Nde osamayankhula mwa umbuli ndimodzitama. Who knew that Joyce Banda could become a president. Mxxiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!

  11. Well spoken Kamlepo! Where were APM, Chaponda and Goodall in 1992 to 1994? Amadya ma sausage in USA!
    Now that we fought for democracy….they come back to reap where they did not sow ! And to add salt to our wounds they start unleashing the very violence that we fought against in 1994!
    Look here amangwetu…..APM and Chaponda are cowards….they run away from the country afraid of Kamuzu ….now they want to do unto others what they run away from??? Crass!!! It would have been better if this trio did not come back home!!!
    Malawians are tolerant but we have limits…..the cadets are crossing the red lines and soon and very soon we will teach thumbidwas lessons from 1994….sadzatifunanso!!! # second awakening# mitchona must fall!

  12. Malawians are indeed in extreme danger with the DPP regime. But one thing i know God will help to fight this battle. Especially when you will soon DPP losing a couple of individuals in a space of no time.

These matching were not there 1992/93 when Malawian GENUINE malawians did not flee or abandoned their country but fought to win the democracy we enjoy now so they should not spoil our hard won freedom. They should go back where they came from and let us the brave people stay freely in our beloved country.
    Malawian stop voting for people who do not understand the plight of Malawians.
