Kamlepo attends PP’s launch of Mzimba by-elections campaign

The Peoples Party  (PP) on Sunday  launched its campaign for the Mzimba South West Bye-elections at Nhlafuta Primary School in Inkosi ya Makosi Mbelwa area.

PP Vice President (Operations) Khumbo Kachali, Secretary General Henry Chibwana, Treasurer General Harry Mkandawire, National Director of Women Clara Makungwa and National Campaign Director Kalanzi Mbewe were among the high profile personalities that graced the launch.

Also present at the rally was Malawi Democratic Party  (MDP) president Kamlepo Kalua.

Kachali who is also Vice President of the Republic said the party had come to the area to ask for the people to vote for its candidate Raymond Chatima Nkhata, who won its primary on 25th August, 2012.

“After serving you faithfully that you elected me in 2004 and 2009, the State President Mrs. Joyce Banda decided to honour people in this area by appointing me to this high office. I ask you to join me in saying thank you to the President by voting for Nkhata,” said Kachali.

The Vice President said the administration was working to put the economy and social development foundations that will see that the country recover from the previous maladministration as such it was important that the people in the area to vote for a PP candidate for the efforts to have strong legislative backing.

The Vice President said Nkhata, whose father was a parliamentarian in the area before was the only candidate for the Peoples Party and no independents should claim that they have support of the party leadership.

Inkosi Mbelwa ‘campaigns’

Inkosi ya Makosi Mbelwa said the people of Mzimba South West and the rest of the Northern Region had sent Chiefs to thank President Banda for honouring their own son to assume the Vice Presidency and that the bye-elections were one way the people will show their support to the President by voting for her candidate.

“We are not talking politics; we are talking continuation of development in this area. As a Parliamentrian, the Vice President achieved a lot here, we want that to continiue and only a candidate from Government will deliver on our aspirations,” said the Inkosi ya Makosi.

Inkosi Mbelwa said the people of the area asked him and Chiefs to travel to Lilongwe to thank President JBanda and they would be more loud in their voting on October 9.
