Kamlepo says Indians, Chinese, Nigerians exploiting Malawi youth: Minister Dausi conceded porus borders aiding illegal immigrants
Member of Parliament from Rumphi East, Kamlepo Kalua has said in Parliament that some Indians , Chinese and Nigerians are exploiting the Malawi youth, especial girls who are used as drug traffickers.

Kalua said foreigners have now made Malawi their heaven such that they enter the country illegally and do “dirty business”.
He said: “ They come here to do criminal acts and not invest as they claim when entering. This is serious and should be addressed.”
Kalua asked the Minister of Homeland Security, Nicholas Dausi to explain what government is doing to curb the influx of illegal immigrants who pose a security threat.
Dausi said government will come up with a serious and comprehensive response in a quest to curb huge influx of illegal immigrants and admitted that the country has porus borders.
“Our country is indeed facing an influx of people from other countries who mostly are irregular immigrants. Statistics show that the majority of such irregular migrants are mainly from countries like Ethiopia and Somalia, Nigeria. However some Chinese and Indians have overstayed because their work permits are overdue.
“Most of the immigrants use unchartered route and claim that they are seeking asylum in the county which is compromising the security risks in our country as government, we would like to make sure that there is a thorough vetting as to who is doing what, where and why,” he said.
The Minister said there are a number of strict measures the government has put in place to address the issue.
He said government has intensified swiping operations and patrols and has introduced a comprehensive public awareness programs for dealing with illegal immigrants in the country.
Dausi urged members of parliament to sensitize their communities to stop supporting illegal immigrants in the country.
“Let us sensitize our constituencies that should they see people who are not Malawians using unchartered routes, they must report to police or immigration department, they should not aid or abet entrance of illegal I immigrants,” he pointed out.
The Minister added that the government is increasing the number of Immigration and Police officers to deal with the challenge and has embarked on computerization of border exit points to track and target busy borders.
“In October, 2018, we recruited 246 new Immigration Officers deployed across the country. We are training our officers how best they can identify those that are coming as illegal irregular immigrants.
“In the office we are computerizing and automating the assurance of permits and issuance of passports to be able to analyze who is doing what and for what particular reason,” he highlighted.
Dausi said that his Ministry would work hand in hand with Ministries of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and Trade to deal with issues of land given to foreign nations and their business operations in the country.
“The Ministry will coordinate with the two ministries in order to sensitize our officers that before they give permit for trade or whatever or investment or even the acquisition of land to immigrants, they must consider Malawians first because at the end of the day, we don’t want Malawians to be refugees in their own country,” he explained.
Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Clement Chiwaya requested the Minister to come up with a comprehensive Ministerial statement to clarify to members as to how there is an increase influx of migrants in the country.

I never agreed with Kamlepo before. But this time i am 100% behind him. The guy is the first ever kind to speak about this while the Dausi’s and friends are enjoying the looting. Mr Chilima what are u saying about the issue of migration. It seems you are just busy with 1 million jobs while the country is being taken over by alendo. Kamuzu protected us from these alendos. Koma andale amasiku ano protects their families.
They are even taking over some jobs in tea industries. Go to Eastern Produce and Lujeri Tea Estates, Indians are ill-treating Malawians. They are beating and calling Malawians monkeys.
Kamlepo is right we need our government to do something urgently for instance there’s a burundian near winners chapel in mchesi near the lilongwe bridge doing Sobo wholesale business surely that business should be done by locals/Malawinas. Am very surprised and disappointed about this surely where are we heading as a nation? And to the management of Sobo Malawi how and why did they give such a contract to a foreigner? Are they trying to tell us there are no Malawinas who can do such business?
The only good Indian is a dead one….
Information on what other countries are doing, to curb the influx of foreigners and types of businesses that foreigners are allowed to carry out in other countries in the SADC region, has been given to government by Malawians through this forum. Example , Make policies that are intended to empower Malawians by reserving certain businesses to be only for citizens. Especially small and medium enterprises. Foreigners should invest in bigger businesses where they can create employment for Malawians which will help the country to reduce un employment. Benchmark from other countries to see first hand what they are doing to protect
and empower their citizens. Lets not make all businesses free for all to foreigners. Kugulitsa nyemba mtedza etc should not be allowed for foreigners to carry out as a business, where they are employing their wives and relatives to run the business. I doubt if they are even paying taxes from such businesses.
Hon. Kamlepo is saying the truth. It is not only the countries he had mentioned, it is many. The problem is first us, the owners of the nation. We have given leadto foreigners to access even our passports, buying land, and the drug trafficking. We have brought this shame and we cannot blame anyone or point a finger at someone. How many people have we eloped to use our villages irruption our chiefs to sign documents for foreigners so they can enjoy our benefits of travelling to different countries without pressure. We have so many Zimbabwean holding Malawi passports, Nigeria’s, Burundi’s , Congolese and many more. We even facilitated meeting for innocent girls to be couriers of drugs and we have not reported it. The so called human rights defenders have done nothing, even csos to hold meetings in schools to sensitise our girls on the danger of being used. We have taken advantage of their vulnerability. All what we see is human rights defenders playing a hide and seek politics, and are asleep on the very important issues that affect the lives of the citizens who are abused. Can the government please place sniffer dogs in our borders and airports, to check these drugs as well as body scanners to searches individuals going out of the country. Malawians let us defend our country and our sisters from these drug traffickers, by reporting them.
The ordinary people of Malawi are so poor and the politicians are so greedy and corrupt to deal decisively with the illegal immigrants. The problem has now become a source of income for both the rich politicians and the poor people. Ridding Malawi of these criminals will be a mammoth task come 2020. Every corner of the country will be infested with foreigners.
This is the only time I have agreed with this pinhead
I have never agreed with Kamlepo but on this one he is saying absolute truth.
THIS MESS IS CREATED BY THE SAME POLITICIANS. THIS SUBJECT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED SOME 20 YEARS AGO. DON’T YOU THINK ITS TOO LATE THOSE WHO WANTED TO DAMAGE HAVE DONE AND WITH THE CURRENT CORRUPT SYSTEM IT CAN NOT END. I KNOW OF ASIANS AND CHINESE YOU HAVE OBTAINED NOT PERMITS BUT OUR PRECIOUS PASSPORT ILLIGALLY. TIME IS OUT BUT ANYWAY TRY IF YOU HAVE LOVE FOR YOUR COUNTRY.
Dausi should be sincere. Uladi Mussa has a case on his file concerning the aiding of illigal immigrants. The police themselves have been implicated in many, many cases of siding illigal immigrants. So don’t waste time asking Ty he general public to report to police. Which police should we report to? The government machinery is just too corrupt, putting the security of this country at risk.
That`s true man
CHILEKA and KIA the main entry points and law enforcers are the one aiding this.
You will never accomplish this unless you uproot big fishes in NIB,IMMIGRATION and POLICE . At arrivals they can deny a Malawian to enter to restricted areas but you will see NIGERIANS,INDIANS and CHINESE going beyond there abd even directed by the law enforcers.
In these Airports Juniors do the deal and shares with their big bosses.
They are getting very rich every time you will see them exchange forex in the beaureu . Immigration staff less than 5 years in the system he or she is driving or building a house.
ACB waiting to be told .
Even ACB is useless, where is the MK145m case????
This government is on autopilot, marching out of office. Everyone busy stealing as much as possible before they get booted out. Absolute shame!
No politics here bro, be objective as this is a national issue. Its the responsibility of every citizen to report to the authorities any foreigner suspected to have entered our country illegally. This problem started way back and is rapidly increasing. If we join hands we will deal with it.
It is rather unfortunate that the drug problem currently going on in the southern part of Africa has a strong Nigerian contribution and the Nigerian people of Ibo extract(eastern Nigeria) are the prime culprits
The issue of illegal immigrants raised above is serious and need sober approach by Government agencies and bonafide Malawians. We need not jeorpadise our country’s security just for the sake of greed let alone corrupt practices.
And this issue of selling land to foreigners… eish. Malawi is already small hence we cannot afford to sale our limited land to the foreigners. and the equation is not balancing at all. As some of these foreigners have financial capacity (possibility of such finances is from corrupt deals or fraud) to purchase large scale of land.
We need to be patriotic Malawian citizens & consider future of our children…
A Better Malawi is possible & it starts with ‘Me’ & ‘You’

Dausi why not just recommend to courts quick conclusion of Uladi Musa’s [DPP Vice President – Central Region] case so there is evidence on dangers of facilitating illegal immigrants…………………………………………….!!
