Kamuzu Barracks wins Malawi Carlsberg Cup after Nkacha goal defeats Moyale

Kamuzu Barracks (KB) male footballing history by stunning Moyale Barracks in the K20 million (about $20 000) Carlsberg cup  finals at played at Mzuzu Stadium.

KB snatched the trophy in the dying moments of the game when striker Harvey Nkacha made a clinical finish in the box after a melee, beating goalkeeper McDonald Harawa in the 81st-minute sending their supporters into raptures.

“I am very happy to win this cup,” KB coach Billy Phambala told journalists in a post-match interview.

He praised his charges for playing with incredible bravery and  incredible belief.

“We played so well and it is not surprising that we have won,” he said.

In his remarks, Moyale coach Nicholas Mhango congratulated their brothers in arms, saying they deserved the victory .

“It’s a deserved victory for KB, the good thing is that the Cup is within the army barracks,” he said.

KB cart home K7 million (about $17 500) for their feat while Moyale will pocket K3 million (about $7 500).
