Katola re-elected Mayor of Kasungu in re-run: She first won it as MCP councillor now is DPP
Kasungu Municipal Council has re- elected Ireen Ruth Katola as Mayor for the council for the next two and a half years after a re-run of the mayoral polls on Tuesday.
Katola first won the title as a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) councillor but defected to join the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
She triumphed after polling six votes defeating Benedict Chiponda of MCP who had four votes.
The elections were re-run after a tie of the two opposing candidates twice last week.

The voting process might have been fair and free. But I find serious problems with some MCP councillors who DEFINITELY SOLD THEIR SOULS to the highest bidder. MCP has more councillors in the Municipality than DPP and UDF combined. surprisingly, the winner comes from the DPP! How banthu bapika ndarama apa!
