KB dominates TNM awards: Nyasa Times reporters dominate online media awards
After becoming the first ever military side to win the Super League championship, Kamuzu Barracks FC capped it all by sweeping most of the individual awards during the TNM Super League awards gala at Bingu International Conference Center (BICC) last Saturday evening.
Apart from being officially crowned champions, KB, as the team is fondly called grabbed four more awards with its star midfielder Harvey Nkacha named player of the season.
He received a trophy and K300,000 from TNM.
KB`s midfield dynamo Davie Banda was also voted player of the tournament with the team`s technical panel declared the best technical panel.
The military side was also named the most improved team alongside Mzuni FC.
Mzuni also got the best team management accolade with Moyale Barracks and Dwangwa United winning the Fair play award.
Blue Eagles` supporters were the most disciplined fans and the club also got rewarded for winning the first round.
Mighty Be Forward striker Peter Wadabwa was named the most improved player with Silver Striker`s Lucky Malata voted the best defender. Nyasa Big Bullets` Ernest Kakhobwe was named the best goalkeeper.
Mafco`s Richard Mbulu was the best striker with 19 goals to his credit. He got K300,000.
Blantyre based newly listed Fifa referee Ishmael Chizinga was named the best referee.
In the Media category, Nyasa Times dominated the online awards with its Alex Mwazalumo named the best online journalist and Jerome Kadewere the second best online journalist.
Mavuto Kambuwe of Times Group was the best print journalist while the award of best electronic journalist went to MBC`s, Frank Kandu.
Mike Bango of Zodiak was the best TV journalist and Steve Banda was awarded as the best commentator.

Am happy that Steve Liwewe Banda was voted the best football commentator particularly in English. Keep it up Steve! Some of us stopped listening to Malawi football commentary when you left.
