KFC to open outlet in Lilongwe
World renowned fast food outlet Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), with a presence in over 80 countries, will open its doors in Lilongwe at 9am on Thursday 25th February, 2016 at Lilongwe City Mall, three years after opening the first ever shop in Malawi at Blantyre.

Principal Operator of the KFC franchise in Malawi, Hamza Tayub said in an interview with Nyasa Times that, in addition to the in-store seating, the Lilongwe shop will have a ‘drive thru’ service – the first ever for any fast food operator in the country.
“This store has been custom built and is the latest fusion concept KFC design which will include a ‘drive-thru’ service, the first ever in Malawi. Customers should expect highest quality and a full range of products that is also available in Blantyre at a very competitive price,” said Tayub.
A ‘drive-thru’ service allows customers to order, pay and collect their food from the comfort of their cars.
“We have met international standards set by KFC in terms of store design, fixtures and fittings, ingredients and training. Our staff was originally trained in South Africa and the rest of the staff have been trained according to the KFC standards,” said Tayub.
He said the Lilongwe shop will be opening from 9am to 9pm with the ‘drive-thru’ service closing at 10pm from Mondays to Thursdays while from Fridays to Sundays opening times will be from 9am to 11pm with the drive-through service running up to midnight.
