Kukoma Diamonds are looking into the possibility of signing England-based netballer Laureen Ngwira.
Ngwira’s six-month contract with England Super League side Team Nothumbria has expired and she may not return as the team has pulled out from the league.
The towering goalkeeper-cum-shooter is a player for Tigresses but Diamonds’ vice-chairperson Lumbani Mtonya said signing Ngwira is a genuine option.
The team’s officials had discussions with the player in Blantyre at the weekend.
Mtonya described Ngiwra as a quality player who could add value to their team.
“We had a fruitful meeting with her and we made an offer. Right now we are trying to enquire about her status as a player and we will take it up from there,” he said.
Tigresses claim Ngwira still has a contract with them and thatthat she was at Team Nothumbria on loan.
Ngwira has kept her comments close to the chest.
