Lawi cherishes United States trip
Malawian Afro-Soul musician, Lawi, has described his trip to the United States where he performed alongside his Mango Band as a success and a gear for greater heights in his music career.
Speaking to Nyasa Showbiz the Amaona Kuchedwa hit star explained his heartfelt excitement he had for performing in the U.S., his first international appearance with Mango Band.
Said Lawi: “It was a great show and we all enjoyed it, the response was just awesome”.
The artist said performing in the U.S. was a huge step and he learnt a lot for the growth of his music career.
“It’s a big industry and we had a chance to feel how it is when you perform on a much bigger platform.
“The stage we played on will have John Legend play on it on July 22nd and on the 27th July it will host Damian Marley,” said the Malawian singer.
He further said it was very encouraging to have the sound engineers speak highly of their music.
The singer and his band were invited to perform in America alongside his compatriot, Afro-R&B singer, Maskal, at the 6thJuly Malawi golden jubilee in Washington DC.
Apart from the musicians, fashion clothing lines Lilly Alfonso and Nzika Wear also showcased their designs at the event organised by the Malawian community in the U.S.
“It was beautiful seeing a lot of diversity in color and languages,” explained Lawi, who arrived back home over the weekend.
