Lawyer Theu raps ‘dishonest’ Namarika at the helm of Malawi Covid-19  response

Private practice lawyer, Bright Theu, has questioned government’s decision to put Principal Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Dan Namarika, in the lead in the fight against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Namarika: Lawyer Theu says he cannot be trusted because of the way he handled the illness and death of former President Bingu wa Mutharika.

In his post on the social media, Theu challenges that government cannot successfully convince Malawians on COVID-19 pandemci with Namarika at the helm, arguing the PS is not someone people can trust because of the way he handled the illness and death of former President Bingu wa Mutharika.

Namarika was a personal physician of Bingu at the time of his sudden death to cardiac arrest in 2012.

“COVID-19 is surely real and spreading, perhaps mostly unnoticed and untraceably. Government’s failure to convince its own people has everything to do with using known dishonest people to supply information to the public. The Dr. Namarika is in official records to have lied about the death of President Bingu wa Mutharika and probably sanctioned change of name of the dead patien  president to Daniel Phiri,” writes the lawyer.

“Granted, honesty is not a value and virtue in DPP government. From the very top dishonesty is. But trust you me, your gang is the only one conviced with that position. The majority of the nation who can only operate with trust still values honesty and abhor dishonesty. You cannot deploy folks known to be that dishonest to convey truth. You soil the truth before it gets to the audience,” adds Theu.

And in his comment on social media, Ras Sam Mogha wonders how could trust Namarika with such a responsibility.

“Is this the same Namarika who told the nation that Bingu was alive? Here he comes again with a cooked up story of six more patients,” writes Mogha.

Namarika had not yet responded to a questionnaire from Nyasa Times seeking his comment on the matter at the time of going with story online.

  1. Theu has a point! For starters there are some doctors in Malawi who have thrown professional ethics out of the window just to tow the DPP agenda all the time. Some even call themselves Cadets in professional forums! I wonder if they are planning for the future without DPP in government or they buy the blue lies that DPP will remain in power up to 2084?!

  2. I know some lawyers are desperate to become famous but one day when sick u will remember how much doctors sacrifice. U remember how ntaba saved paul mphwiyo. Zinazi mutenga nazo tsoka. Namarika is a very good doctor. He didn’t have power over bingus death. Trump even overrided his own doctor to write his own fitness report. Its grossly unfair and irresponsible to start insulting doctors. No matter how big ur head is u will need them.

  3. What I know is that Lawyers are bad at Sciences and Maths, how this guy comment on these science problems. Dr. Namarika more learned than this guy MUST BE SUED for defamation.

All subordinates realise that they are working under a poisoned environment and chaos creaps in. That is exactly what is happening now with the ministry of Health. There some problems in life that are not legal issues and in those circumstances, we have to listen to people who know those issues best, people like Dr Namalika. Therefore, stop slandering the good doctor. Listen to medical advice, it may save your life and that of your ambwiya.

Sending a dead body to SA to blind fold Malawians that Bingu died in SA yet he died at state house shame on this evil person Namalika who is now selling Covid-19 in Lilongwe in order to scare people from registering mwauponda Lilongwe this time around will register 2+million people.   34. Bright, Dan is a qualified doctor, not a lawyer. Even lawyers in Malawi cannot be trusted. If we are to measure on scale , people would be happy to trust their lives in Dr Namarika than lawyer Theu. Namarika was chosen to be person physician for Late Bingu based on his qualifications and hard working. It is understandable that at the time of the death of President Bingu, there was political tension, hence others went into celebrations. You can blame him, but at the same time , lawyers in Malawi cannot be trusted. Namarika serves lives for free in his professional.

  35. Honestly Dr NAMARIKA is a cadet doctor, him together with Ben phiri can’t be trusted on a very serious matter,Ben phiri lied even in court that he went to Cyprus. College for his PhD, later he changed that he went to Jerusalem Bible College, someone that lacks such integrity can’t be trusted on a very serious matter like Covid-19, honestly Mutharika has lost big time by entrusting this serious matter in the hands of cadet PS and Cadet minister, does it mean DPP now only has thugs, bandits, vagabonds, political bandits that can’t even stand for truth on serious matters? DAN NAMARIKA is a big shame to the medical profession, but as they say professionalism like beauty is in the hands of the beholder, that may have been professionalism in the eyes of NAMARIKA by playing tribal political card at the expense of credible judgement of his work, he has reduced his profession honestly, once upon time doctors used to command respect, but not now with thugs like NAMARIKA!!!!!

    The Dramas are amazing and I can promote then to Hollywood Movies. As the DPP best interest is Money, I can guarantee that the money from these movies will be more than enough to overflow to the DPP cadets and they won’t wash the dirty linen outside. I was actually disappointed with the Guy ….Ati we can’t compare Corona ndi Hiv chifukwa cha incubation period ….That’s not the point Dan …Hiv had vulnerable groups eg prostitutes ,young men and women mkuona anthu amatopasidwa makondomu plus ma uthenga owirikiza ,pregnant women mkuona amatoyezedwa ….Coronanso iri ndi ma vulnerable groups e.g .anthu achikulire 60plus ….azimayi amimba,a asthma ,bp ,amene immunity yao ndiyosika etc So we can learn alot from Our Experience in handling Hiv ,kuti Kodi ma Vulnerable groups tiwafikira bwanji …Communication and tiwathandiza bwanji …kapena tiwapasa ma mask Not just Incubation Period ….
