Lilongwe City Council demolishes structures including Chinese restraunt in prohibited land

Lilongwe City Council officials demolished all brick fences including the Restaurant owned by a Chinese which were built under the Electricity Supply Corporation Of Malawi (ESCOM) high power voltage lines and Lilongwe Water Board main pipeline along Lilongwe river banks.

 According to one of the security officers at the premises, the demolition operations started around 10 pm up to 3 am.
At one of the demolished fences, the owner said he had proper documentation from the city council about the land and for connectivity from ESCOM. This particular owner stated that he was preparing to build shops and Warehouse at the place before the demolition.
Reports indicate that the people who encroached the land built their infrastructures under the high voltage ESCOM lines and near Lilongwe Water Board main pipeline.
However, commentators said that the city council granted the land to a certain businesspersons of Asian origin who claimed to have all documentation from both the Council and Ministry of Lands.

Corruption. Amwenye. They corruption Malawi officials. Look around Lilongwe where these indians have built their business buildings. Sometime one wonder If city of Lilongwe has land plan or are they Un educated? KU Malawi corruption yakula. Indians have been given more land in the country capita city. Most of those buildings are built on a land which was meant for others thing. There is not planing in Malawi. Look st hotell which is built very near the road on round about on way to Blantyre. Now go to Area 25 market where they have built under high voltage Escom line. Do not spare that because of politics. It is very dangerous to people’s life.
