Lilongwe derby tops weekend bill in TNM Super League
Just a week, after watching a Blantyre derby between Mighty ‘Nyerere’ Wanderers and Big Bullets, in the capital city Lilongwe, soccer lovers will be treated to another explosive derby, this time a Lilongwe one involving gianst Silver Strikers versus Civo United on Saturday in the TNM Super League.
The capital city derby will take place at Silver Stadium in Area 47 Lilongwe. The last time the teams met, it ended 2-2 .
Saturday’s match promises to be a thrilling encounter because a win for the civil servant will see them overtaking the Bankers on the third slot.
Currently, the Bankers have 38 points while the Civil Servants are basking on the fourth place with 36 points.
Silver Strikers assistant coach Hellings Mwakasungura told Nyasa Times that they were geared to upset the tables come Saturday.
” We are aware that Civo will come flat out because any victory for them will be a bonus plus on the log table. However, we are well prepared to beat them this time around,” said Mwakasungura.
His counterpart ‘Sir’ Alex Masanjala conceded that it will be a tough match but vowed to collect full points after 90 minutes.
Masanjala, who is likely to miss four key players due to injuries like Emmanuel ‘Siyeni’ Zoya, Joseph ‘Dudu’ Kachule, John ‘Kintu’ Lanjesi and Dave Ng’ambi will bank his hopes on Pilirani Makupe, Patrick Gunde, Martin Masoapyola and Dickson Mbetewa to come out of Area 47 with three points.
On the other camp, the likes of Tonny Chitsulo, Harvey Nkacha, Rodrick Gonani, peter ‘Pido’ Pindani, Ndaziona ‘Mbulelo’ Chatsalira and Asedi Ayami are expected to present an early christmass gift to the Area 47 residence.
