Lilongwe to host Airtel Top 8 semis this weekend
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) announced new dates and venues for the Airtel Top 8 Cup Semi-finals.
Bingu National Stadium is set to host the Be Forward Wanderers and Moyale Barracks clash Saturday.
According to FAM’s Competition Manager Gomegzani Zakazaka, the first semi-final involving Wanderers and Moyale will take place on Saturday at the Bingu National Stadium, while the seond game involving Silver Strikers and Kamuzu Barracks will be played on Sunday at Civo Stadium.
The Wanderers/Moyale game was scheduled to take place on Sunday at Mulanje Park Stadium, but according to Zakazaka, after consultations, they thought it wise to move the game to Bingu Stadium since it is a high profile encounter.
The Nomads reached this stage after beating Azam Tigers 3-1 on aggregate while Moyale Barracks showed Mafco an exit-door with a 6-2 beating.
Kamuzu Barracks defeated Blue Eagles 6-2, while the bankers silenced Nyasa Big Bullets 1-0.
Finals of the Airtel Top 8 Cup are scheduled to take place on June 3 at Bingu National Stadium with the winner expected to carter home K15 million. The loosing finalists will receive K5 million.
