Lilongwe Technical College selects its beauty queen

Lilongwe Technical College (LTC) over the weekend hosted a beauty pageant to select the college’s 2012/13 queen, which went out to 20-year-old Barbara Njoka.

The young up-and-coming Are 49 based model, beat nine other girls to win the highly contested competition, which was full of glamour.

Following her crowning, the ever smiling LTC queen, who is pursuing a diploma in accounting, said she was very delighted to win the crown as she aims high to become one of the top models in Malawi and outside.

Cecilia Chunga: First princes

“I am so happy to win the crown after that tough competition, and to me this is a stepping stone as my dream is to become a top model,” she said in an interview.

Speaking further, Barbara committed herself to working hand in hand with the students union to improve sanitation and academics level at LTC, one of the major colleges in the capital city.

The young woman also took time to advise fellow students, especially girls at LTC and other colleges in the country to work hard in school in order to be productive citizens.

In his remarks, Emmanuel Kunto, the entertainment director at LTC said he was delighted with how the whole competition was conducted.

“All the contestants gave their all to grab the crown, and we are very pleased to see how competitive the race was. We are looking forward to making the event even bigger the next time,” he said.

In addition, Kunto expressed his thanks to the students at the college for their support and went further to disclose that they will soon be hosting a social weekend at the college, which will see one of the country’s top singers, Maskal, making an appearance.

The competition also saw Cecilia Chunga being voted the first princess while Charity Mazonga was crowned second princess.

Apart from having the entertainment as the girls battled on the ramp, patrons were also treated to live music performances by some well known artist from the city, including Gwamba, Roy View, Khuzie B, Nes Nes, Casablanca and Malinga Mafia of Mabiringanya crew
