Lucius urges upcoming artists to set high standards

Malawi’s music icon, Lucius Banda has urged up and coming arts, to set high standards when producing their music, if they are to be competing at an international stage.

Lucius, who is on South African with singer Lulu, says this on phone with a host of a radio program, Nyatwa Flavor on Power 101 FM.

“I was thrilled to see CDs of Malawian arts when I was passing through Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and even here (South Africa) Malawian songs also find air time which is very impressive.

“But if we are to really breakthrough at international scene we need to produce songs which will be very competitive at both local and international stage,” said Lucius.

He added: “The youngsters needs to be focused, they should have time to listen to tracks from other countries and compare them with their songs, and see how best to come up with a better product.”

Lucius will have his last show in Johannesburg again on Saturday 10th December at Safari Hotel in Hilbrow.

The price will be R80 and R100 for VIP section, according to McMillan Mwale, assistant manager of the hotel.
