Lulu set for Cockpit’s Easter Sunday show
Not many artists would do what Lulu does; playing drums, strumming his guitar and dancing. Add to that array of talents, Lulu’s voice is arguably his best weapon.
On Sunday, people in Lilongwe would have that rare opportunity to watch Lulu performing live at Cockpit Lounge with his Mathumela Band.
“We have added new members who have strengthened our band. We don’t take people’s support for granted that is why we promise the best on Easter Sunday,” said Lulu whose real name is Lawrence Khwisa.
Known for his fine compositions like ‘Mungondibwelezera,’ Lulu will perform at Cockpit following another performance by Edgar & Davis featuring Giddes Chalamanda early this month. The trio launched what is dubbed Cockpit’s year of entertainment.
“Lulu is an exceptional artist, dancer and guitarist whose live performances are a marvel to watch. We will make sure to bring the best [always] and people should expect the best entertainment on Sunday,” said Cockpit’s publicist Tasha Maluza in a press release.
Maluza said Lulu has made a name for himself on the local entertainment industry that is why the Lounge decided to host his performance.
“Cockpit will provide the platform for Lulu to display his talent and we are glad that our working relationship with artists in Malawi is very strong. We promise to bring more of these shows because we respond to the needs of our customers,” Maluza said.
The show will start at 7.00pm and will run until midnight with patrons expected to pay K3,000.
