Makawa passed away in the early hours on Monday at Blantyre Adventist hospital following a short illness.

Just last Friday, Makawa was at Euthini in Mzimba celebrating World Posts Day representing Macra where she made a speech.

“She was taken ill on Sunday close to midnight and later died,” said a relation.

The late Makawa was an accomplished entrepreneur and owner of Alexander Hotels.

Macra director general Godfrey Itaye has confirmed about the death and expresses “great shock”.

Itaye said he confirmed the death with “great sadness.”

He said burial arrangements will be announced later.

May Her Soul Rest in Peace.
