Mafco beat Dedza Young Soccer, go top: Malawi TNM Super League

Salima based soldiers side Mafco F.C on Sunday beat rookies Dedza Young Soccer 2-0 to go top of the prestigious K90 million top flight Super League which is sponsored by Telecom Networks Malawi (TNM) in a match played at the Chitowe Stadium.

Emmanuel Chipeta and Paul Phiri were responsible for the demolition of the league debutants.

Mafco maintained the clean sheet as they are yet to lose a game.

They beat Azam Tigers F.C in the first week of the 2015-16 season 1-0 and later beat former defending champions Silver Strikers 3-1 in the second week of the new season.

Elsewhere, Civo United continue to struggle and managed to collect only a single point out of a possible six after they drew 0-0 against Airborne Rangers on Friday before losing 1-0 to visiting Azam Tigers.

Blue Eagles and Zomba based soldiers Red Lions drew 1-1 on Friday at the Nankhaka Stadium.

Former defending champions Silver Strikers registered their first win of the season after beating Mzuni F.C 2-0 who on Saturday produced a surprising result by beating Epac F.C 1-0 courtesy of Wacheta Mwenefumbo’s strike.
