Mafco breathe new life into top 4: Malawi TNM Super League

Calisto Kalinda and Zikhole Ngulube were on target as Mafco FC won 2-0 against Mzuni FC at the Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota to move up to position four.

The soldiers move above Civil Sporting Club who have dropped to position six following their 1-0 defeat to defending champions Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday at the Civo Stadium courtesy of a Harvey Nkacha’s
loan strike.

Nyasa Big Bullets have also moved to second place dislodging Silver Strikers who drew 1-1 against Blantyre United on Saturday before salvaging their first league defeat inflicted by Red Lions.

It was the biggest and surprising win for the soldiers who have lost their previous three consecutive matches.

Bullets beat Blue Eagles 3-0 at the Chilomoni Stadium.

Master Security Services beat Dwangwa United 2-0 at Dedza Stadium with goals from Vincent Nyaungulu and Juma Yatina and they are now tied on 23 points with Red Lions.

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers are still in-charge at the summit of the log table with 54 points.

They opened a seven point lead after beating Moyale Barracks 3-1 on Sunday 24 hours after being held 0-0 by Chitipa United who anchors the log table.

Mafco FC Coach Temwa Msuku believes his side can push further if they win their remaining games starting with this weekend’s assignment against Master Security at home on Saturday.

“Our performance against Mzuni was Superb and I thank the boys for their hard work. I believe if we continue with the performance we displayed, we can push and reduce the gap with teams that are above us on the log table” said Msuku.

“We started the season badly but that does not mean we can finish badly too, teams will be dropping points and its up to us to capitalize on that,” he said.
