Fresh from a 4-0 demolition of Epac FC, the Central Bankers failed to reproduce their last week form against a an improved Mafco, which last week crashed to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Moyale Barracks.

The Bankers created some good scoring opportunities in the first half but their front line led by Green Harawa failed to utilise the chances.

They were duly punished five minutes to the break when midfielder Hassan ‘Anganga’ Chapola beat goalkeeper Blessings Kamiza with a thunderbolt from outside the 18 yard box after receiving a pass from Lawrence Mwehiwa.

Coach Lovemore Fazili made some changes in the second half but that did not stop the Soccer Instructors from Salima from claiming a double over the Bankers, having also beaten them 3-1 at Chitowe Stadium during the first round.

“It was not really a bad performance on our side only that we did not take the chances we had in the first half. We tried to make some changes in the second half but things did not work out because we were under pressure to level the scores,” said Fazili after the final whistle.

Mafco’s goalkeeper trainer Martin Martins, speaking on behalf of coach Thomas Maloya described the win against Silver as very important.

“This is a very important win because were slightly below Silver in terms of points but with this win, we are now above them,” said Martins.

With the victory, the soldiers have taken over the second position from the Bankers after accumulating 34 points from 20 games, two points above the Bankers, who have a game in hand.

Beating a team 1-0 is not whipping. Chizungu. A use a whipping when u score by a wide margin, e.g. 4-0
