Mafco go top,Thindwa inspires Epac to pip Silver

Mafco moved back to the top of the TNM Super League with a 1 – 0 victory over Civo United to make a perfect start to the second round.

Hassan Chapola ensured maximum points were collected on a busy Saturday of top flight football to take Temwa Msuku’s side back to the summit.

This result means the soldiers from Salima have leapfrogged Moyale on 27 points as Moyale went down to Red Lions.

Mafco coach Temwa Msukwa was excited with the victory saying they are back on top where they belong.

Man of the moment: Ishamel Thindwa

“We have beaten Civo three times now and it’s always good to beat the best and ofcourse getting back on top,” he said.

His counterpart Alex Masanjala conceded defeat saying Mafco’s winning formula over them is working and they will overturn the tables next time they meet.

Moyale who finished top of the table in the first round to pocket K250, 000 were trimmed to size by fellow brothers-in- arms Red Lions 3 – 2.

Manuel Banda scored twice before Mphatso Ngwira added the third while Wild Nkuliwa scored both goals for Moyale.

At the Civo stadium, unpredictable Epac FC stunned Silver Strikers 3 – 2 from behind to deny the central bankers a perfect start.

Top goal scorer Ishmael Thindwa extended his tally to 14 with a double and Taonga Munthali punched in the other.

Frank Banda’s brace was not enough to save Silver’s day.

Zomba United proved too good for Blue Eagles when they beat the policemen 1 – 0. Steve Paundi made the difference in that game at the Zomba Community Centre ground.

Blantyre United convincingly thumped Embangweni United 4 – 1 to bag maximum points and with it, a perfect start to the second round.

Brown Mizeya scored the first hat trick of the second round and Sunday Kamuyamba made it 4. Charles Sikwewa reduced the arrears from a spot kick.
