Mafikizolo in Malawi for Lake of Stars: Happy to be back

Mafikizolo, headline singers for the Lake Stars festival, say they are excited to be back in Malawi after a 10 year break.

The group’s lead act, Nhlanhla Sibongile Mafu Nciza said Friday on arrival at Chileka International Airport where they were welcomed by TNM that it felt good to have been chosen to headline the festival.

“We’re ready to rock the Lake of Stars festival with the songs we’ve released between our last visit to Malawi in 2002 and now. We’ve also done a number of collaborations with other artists which are due for release later this year, and these will also be sampled by the festival fans,” she said.

The group was welcomed on arrival at Chileka International airport by Lake of Stars telecoms partner TNM, which drove them in specially branded SUV vehicles to Mangochi.

Said TNM Marketing Manager Madalitso Jonazi; “We are very pleased that our partnership with Lake of Stars will help unleash the best in African music and performing talents.”

The 11-member Mafikizolo team landed at 14:45 pm aboard a Malawian Airways Boeing plane and a red carpet rolled out for them.

  1. Red carpet? Red carpet? What? Oh Malawi wakeup and c the world. Red carpet? Mafikizolo? KkkkkkkkkkkKkkkkkkkk!!!! Shame on u.

    1. Marcus could be a shareholder in TNM. At that level he might be justified to criticise the investment decision taken by his company.

  2. Za ziiiiii! the whole TNM going so low! Stupid! Why dont you invest that money in education or health?….Red carpet for what? What kind of carpet would TNM role if Jay-Z comes to MW. Shame! Marketing sinayambedi ku Malawi kuno!

  3. TNM is slowly coming out of its cacoon. Mwayamba kupanga zochangamuka tsopano. But the red carpet thing, if it’s true, was an overzealous act. You shouldn’t have done that to a bunch of musicians. Was there prior approval from Foreign Affairs of this protocol? What type of carpet would you roll out for Obama, Putin or the gout- plagued boy rascal of North Korea?

  4. WELCOME TO THE WARM HEART OF AFRICA-MALAWI..

OWWWW! I can’t wait to dance to tchelete thang’ imaleeeeee.

    Enjoy guys

  5. can a singer likes of Lucius Banda be accorded with REDCARPET IN RSA??? WHOEVER DID THIS MUST BE SERIOUSLY QUESTIONED AND PUNISHED.

  6. Why is Chileka accepted to be used as an International airport? This airport is a disgrace to the nation. I wonder what our politicians think about this airport when coming back from foreign trips using top of the art airports.
