Mai Dinala dies aged 82: 57 years serving MCP

Roseby Dinala, popularly known as Mai Dinala,  one of the longest serving members of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP)  has died aged 82.

MCP Director of Campaign Moses Kunkuyu has confirmed the death, saying more details will be communicated in due course.

She was one of the Malawians who welcomed the country’s founding President Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda at Chileka Airport in 1958.

Mai Dinala, who was chairperson of the MCP Women’s League for Blantyre,  declared that she would serve the party as an honour to Kamuzu until her death.

Since then, Mayi Dinala never ditched MCP for any other party.

Dinala was a celebrated mother. She gave birth to 14 children and had  25 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mum Rosemary was real a flower of M.C.P somebody who knew politics and I am not ashamed to call her a real politician of our. time Somebody who knew what it means to belong to a party and why are. You in that party. That’s the only woman who stuck herself to the ideas of the founder of the party and lived it to the letter. May her soul rest in peace.

  6. MHSRIEP, I never knew the type of women like u existed…. but history has revealed it all about u Mama Dinala, we will miss u and it’s doubtful if we can find a reliable mom like u in these current chamber of politics.

    1. Whatever the case, your mother cannot and will never be compared to late mai Dinala. Actually it is news because she was a very focused woman.

  12. She had beautiful daughters as well. Timangomezera malovu from Poly to Zingwangwa Tarven, pobwelera basi kungoimba phuzo.

    1. Yeah, back in the day, when we had multi party referendum. We would pass by the house from Zingwix singing rude multi party songs.

  14. As far as I can remember. I have seen politians changing parties like under wear, but Mai Dinala had a strong belief in MCP. Even when MCP had nothing (financially) and in-party fighting, she did not move. I wish all politician were like her. RIP Mai Dinala.

  19. If all our politician were like Mai Dinala this would have developed beyond recognition. MHSRIEP. Mai Manjankhosi is another good example of principled politician. We do not want people like Uladi Musa and Wakuda Kamanga, Brown Mpinganjira, Atupele Muluzi, the list can go and on.
