Malawi army clears Masamba to undergo training at Delta Force Boxing Academy
Malawi Defence Force has cleared featherweight champion Wilson Shasha Masamba to undergo a an intensive training camp at Delta Force Boxing Academy.
The arrangement has been made courtesy of No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions Managing Director Craig Rousseau.
He will link up with compatriot Charles Misanjo who has already gone to train at the stable.
Masamba applauded MDF, his employers for consenting him to go and camp in Zimbabwe saying it will help him to prepare thoroughly for the vacant World Boxing Union fight against Brazilian opponent Edson Bispo Riberio on September 26.
“It shows that my bosses are wishing not only me but also the entire nation. My name is at stake so is the nation’s,” Masamba said.
He said there were better facilities in Zimbabwe as compared to Malawi which would boost his preparations.
“I know the facilities are quiet good and the conditions are also good. It’s good that I will be training using good facilities to enhance my chances of doing well,” he said.
Masamba arrived in Zimbabwe on Monday for the spurring sessions.
No Pain No Gain MD Rousseau said they offered the boxer a chance to train in Zimbabwe to improve the sport in the country.
“The camp in Zimbabwe will give a platform our boxers with special techniques to give out their best,” he said.
Masamba and Misanjo are expected to travel to South Africa after Rousseau established ties with Manny Fernandis of BRB Boxing Gym.
