Malawi army officer Chawanda donates to orphanage

Malawi Defence Force (MDF) officer Lieutenant Connell Desmond Chawanda has made a donation of assorted items both food and non food material worth K450, 000, to Adziwa orphanage in Lilongwe.

Some of the donated items include; 40 bags of maize,5 bales of sugar,4 bales of salt,4 cartons of Butex Soap,4 cartons of U- fresh Soap, Vaseline and 6 pigs.

“We can all come and assist orphans in the country,” said Chawanda.

Orphanage chair Moses Chimangeni thanked Chawanda for the timely donation.

Meanwhile, Nyasa Times has discovered that Lilongwe Water Board has disconnected water at the orphanage following the unpaid bill of K268,350.

Chimangeni confirmed that indeed the water has been disconnected at the orphanage.

Adziwa orphanage was opened in 2001 with support from Capital City Baptist Church.

Very true comment number 3.when this officer was ADC to the late Bingu,he was not selfish and helped many people to have access to see Bingu in audience.am one of the people who benefitted from Chawandas generosity unlike other ADCs before and after him.

This gentleman never ceases to amaze me.He is down to earth seniir army officer i have known for long time.he interacts with everybody at the same time keeping his proffessionalism.i just wish if all army officers were like him.very exemplary and with a human heart.keep on the good work you are doing.
